Road to Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2018

With pictures by Marco Giuliano and Jessica De Maio.

Finally, it’s that time of the year. We are already preparing our hearts and minds for the biggest dark music festival in the World. For those who didn’t follow our reports and live stories from the past editions, have a read with some good info about it.

Wave Gotik Treffen takes place in Leipzig, Germany, every year since 1992 over Pentecost – this time from 18th to 21st of May.

With the years it has become the definitive must-go destination for every goth soul -but not only- from all over the globe. Four days full of concerts, with hundred of bands from new wave, to post-punk, to EBM/industrial (but you will find also many fine classical and neo-classical concerts) hosted in more than 50 venues spread throughout the city: just to name a few, the popular Moritzbastei with its underground vaults or the splendid neo-antique cupola hall of the Volkspalast, as well as in large concert halls.

WGT is not only concerts, it’s also a multi-disciplinary event, yet it’s big parties (like the Obsession Bizarr party with enforced fetish dress-code) and most of all it’s a meeting of thousands of people, usually more than 20.000, who share similar tastes and interests out of the mainstream realm.

Some of our favorite bands already confirmed for the current edition: The Jesus and Mary Chain (!), Front Line Assembly, Crisis, Raison D’Etre, Rome, The KVB, Sturm Cafè, Kiew, Imminent & Synapscape… and many more will be coming in the next weeks.
So be sure to save the date and see you in the dusky crowd!

Date: May 18th to 21st, 2018
