In conversation with rising music star Patricia Manfield aka HEIR about “Daddy Issues”, fashion, dreams and inspirations. Photographed by Marco Giuliano, styled by Anca Macavei.
Besides music you are signed to some model agencies and you’ve also been testimonial for brands like Calvin Klein, Dior, etc. What is your relation with the world of fashion? Did it start before or after being widely known on social media?
I went to fashion school and I was discovered when I attended my very first fashion show. It really is thanks to street style photographers because I ended up on many magazines after that, and that’s how all my brand partnerships started. I still finished school and that was my priority at the time, I always motivate people to focus on their education if they can because it really helps you in life. I built my own management team shortly after (for music and entertainment) and we’re also collaborating with two model agencies for image management.
You grew up in Italy and quite recently moved to London, which is a destination of choice for many artists. What determined this decision and did it affect in any ways the start of your career?
I was living in Milan at the time and I felt suffocated because I needed a change of scenery. I wasn’t too in tune with the music scene there and I needed to be inspired again. I also moved to London to be with my current producers and write music together and it really felt like fate because London had always been my favourite city in the entire world and still is.
Your music seems to have a very peculiar spontaneous feeling to it. Did signing with a major (Sony Music) determine any changes in your creative process, compared to your earlier productions?
They really trust me with my direction and that’s an amazing feeling. We all have a group chat and we talk on the daily, whenever I’ve got an idea I always pitch it to them. Let’s just say I get really excited when I like something I’m making so they get excited as well cause they get the vision.
Is there any artist you would particularly like to make a feature/collab with?
Oh wow, too many. But I think it would’ve been a real dream to work with classical composer Erik Satie on melodies.
You just released a new E.P, “Daddy Issues”, can you tell us more about it?
‘’Daddy Issues’’ is out now on all platforms. It really explains how I’ve felt throughout my teenage years and my childhood. Growing up I realised I had many maaaany daddy issues but I wanted to own them. I realised they made me insanely independent.
Where do you dream to see yourself in the next future?
Probably on the big screens. But yet that’s another chapter. :)
