The Symbols We Become / Tarot

"Tarot! Renaissance Symbols, Modern Visions" at Morgan Library.

Symbols outlive the worlds that created them. They leave traces. They accumulate meanings. They mutate. Tarot is one of those surviving languages, carrying Renaissance allegory, occultism, surrealism and contemporary mythology inside the same images. The Morgan Library follows those mutations across six centuries. But beneath the cards there is a deeper question: why do we keep returning to old symbols to imagine new versions of ourselves?
