Reflecting Shenzhen’s metamorphosis from a serene fishing hamlet to a vibrant metropolis, Conrad is an anthology of the city’s cultural renaissance. The journey begins in the lobby, inspired by traditional Chinese architecture, where distinct sections artfully separate the front desk from the dining sanctuaries. Upon entry, guests are greeted by Zhang Xian’s “The Two Forms,” a sculpture embodying the genesis of both Shenzhen and the hotel, steeped in ancient Chinese philosophies of yin and yang. Huang Qicheng’s artworks amplify Conrad Shenzhen’s narrative. “The Lighthouse of Star,” adorning the first-floor lift lobby, echoes the spiral of lighthouse stairs, its light and undulating silhouettes a tribute to Shenzhen’s maritime roots. In the Sky Lobby on the fifth floor, “Chen Yun” interweaves eight distinct traditional Chinese architectural styles, symbolizing Shenzhen’s role as a cultural nexus where dreams and creativity converge.

“The White Night entrance features a white sculpture named after the Chinese writer Tiening. In her essay “A Woman’s White Night,” she wrote: “Being missed and missing others is a feeling of happiness. Such happiness stirs the full passion of the soul, and it radiates brilliance throughout the day.” We propose changing “woman” to “traveler” and hope every traveler finds the happiness that is yearned for and shared in the home where the hotel resides.”
