Imagine to be in a movie. A French movie from the 60’s set in the exotic Moroccan lands. Or maybe you are seeking inspirations to finish your last novel sitting by the pool of an amazing riad. Or imagine to be a fashion model hired for the next big campaign to be shot in the desert outside Marrakech, hiding from the sun in the garden of a riad, with your phone off and a little turtle keeping you company. However you imagine your story, the setting is always the same, the most stylish and peaceful place in the heart of Marrakech.
Riad Sakkan is a rare gem in the center of the Medina (the wonderful yet messy core of the city) but located in a calm and safe area. A riad is a traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior courtyard, often featuring a garden or fountain, adorned with their intricate and decorative architectural details. From the outside you can’t guess all the beauty hidden inside: a green lush paradise with heated pool, a lively garden and the sound of water flowing from the fountain instantly calming your senses. Rooms & suites with high-end design elements: 12 strong characters, 5 luxury categories, all styled individually (a true dream is the huge copper bathtub at the center of the MasterSuite) and a gorgeous rooftop terrace/restaurant, the perfect place to unwind after a long day and enjoy a typical experience without renouncing to the comfort of a boutique hotel treatment. The combination of beautiful surroundings, modern amenities with Moroccan traditional accents and exceptional service makes it an extraordinary choice for anyone seeking a luxurious and relaxing stay in this vibrant and exciting city.
We shot these pictures on a sunny spring afternoon with Kaela, a model from New York City that we met at Sakkan, and Sophie, a Moroccan girl from Marrakech, trying to capture the fashionable vibes of Riad Sakkan and the perfect retreat for our days of leisure.
“Sa-kan means as much as a home, a place where you feel good. And that is exactly what we think a hotel should be, and what it often lacks. That’s why we’ve made SAKKAN different. Back to the essence of a warm welcome, being able to be your stressless self, relaxing and enjoying small things and future memories with your loved ones. In the discrete presence of art, music and scents.”
