Scent In Motion / Transparent

Spotlight on the new Aroma Diffuser by Transparent.

Transparent introduces the Aroma Diffuser, expanding its design research from sound to fragrance. Known for its minimalist loudspeakers and precision engineering, the Stockholm-based brand applies the same attention to material, modularity, and sensory experience to a new field: scent.

Founded in Stockholm in 2012 by Martin Willers, Per Brickstad, and Magnus Wiberg, Transparent has built its reputation on challenging the unsustainable norms of the tech industry. The brand’s purpose is to create essential, long-lasting experiences through technology that inspires rather than expires. Over the past decade, Transparent has established a strong presence within the design world, with collections available at global retailers including MR PORTER, Harvey Nichols, Isetan, Nordiska Galleriet, Antonia, and Turntable Lab.

The new Aroma Diffuser uses ultrasonic technology that turns fragrance oil and water into a fine mist, evenly dispersing aroma throughout the space without smoke, heat, or residue. The system is open and adaptable, compatible with any perfume for the home, encouraging users to personalize their environment and explore scent as part of spatial design.

Fragrance gives us the ability to experience powerful, instant emotions and memories. We engineered this device to enrich homes in a natural, clean and timeless way.

Materiality remains at the center of Transparent’s process. The Diffuser is built from glass and aluminum, two materials that represent transparency, longevity, and full recyclability. Every element can be disassembled for cleaning or maintenance, reflecting the brand’s ongoing pursuit of modular products made to last. This approach continues Transparent’s mission to design technology that inspires rather than expires, focusing on longevity and responsible production.

To complement the device, Transparent offers a curated collection of essential oils inspired by the Nordic landscape. Pine, Red Cedar, and Spruce evoke the natural surroundings that have always informed the brand’s identity: forests, cold air, the scent of wood and resin. Each oil is intended as a starting point, allowing users to build their own sensory compositions at home.

The Aroma Diffuser represents a continuation of Transparent’s design ethics rather than a departure. It investigates how technology can remain invisible yet deeply present, how an object can enrich experience without dominating it. Set to debut in November 2025, the Diffuser embodies the brand’s long-term vision: to create essential, modular, and enduring tools for modern living.
