Inside Pyramid / The Soul of Amnesia Ibiza

An exclusive interview with the team behind Pyramid.

For five decades, generations of dancers, DJs, and dreamers have left their mark within Amnesia’s walls. Pyramid carries this legacy forward with a vision rooted in sound, emotion, and community. In 2025, the night evolves with a KV2 system engineered by PLUSMUSIC—delivering not only clarity and depth but a true sense of immersion. We sat down with the Pyramid team to explore the essence of Amnesia, the emotions that shape its nights, and the moments that make Ibiza unforgettable. Join us on the dancefloor this Sunday, October 5th, for a closing party like no other with Nina Kraviz, Adiel, Ben Sims, Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, and more. Grab your tickets!

You’re almost 50 years deep. Does it feel like you’re preserving club culture or pushing it somewhere new entirely?

Preserving club culture today is, in itself, pushing it somewhere new. In a time when electronic music often focuses on spectacle and show, staying true to our core values — putting music first, encouraging people to be present, and simply to dance — is what sets us apart.

Clubbing in Ibiza is increasingly about content. What would you say to a first time clubber who walks into Pyramid expecting “the show”?

That the real show is inside your body, when you have your eyes closed and you are truly focused on the beats. This year we have implemented a new sound system provided by KV2 Audio, and engineered by PLUSMUSIC, that elevates the experience even more.

What does Amnesia’s dancefloor still do emotionally, spiritually, physically that the rest of the island may have forgotten?

Amnesia has history, different generations of clubbers have been on our dancefloor and you can feel it breathing through the walls. Many things may change, the industry evolves and transforms through technology but there is something that money and tech can’t buy and that is the years of being a sanctuary for those who choose to lose themselves through dance.

Describe a perfect moment in a Pyramid night. What did it sound like? What did it look like?

For sure, the ‘crowd cheer’ moment and the dancefloor becomes a single breath. A visceral ‘ooooh’ rises from the crowd, a wave that vibrates through the air, mixing excitement and surprise. Seeing and hearing people burst with energy, surprised by the DJ,  feels like you’re part of something truly special. A shared moment that connects the whole room, even people working at the club, all moving at the same pulse. It sounds like pure euphoria. It looks like a pure explosion of joy. Moments like this show how powerful the music is under our roof.

Sound is sacred at Pyramid. Tell us about the new immersive system and what kind of transformation you’re trying to engineer beyond just loudness.

Our KV2 system is custom-tuned for both rooms to deliver precise imaging, consistent coverage, and crystal-clear low end. Beyond volume, it transforms the space into an immersive sonic environment, making every note feel alive, letting the music connect with every person on the dancefloor. This transformation has been made possible through our collaboration with our trusted partners at PLUSMUSIC, whose expertise and attention to detail have been instrumental in bringing our sonic vision to life.

You’ve kept Pyramid low flash but high emotion. When it’s working, when the system, the crowd, the artist all lock in, what does your team feel on the dancefloor? What’s the goosebumps moment?

The goosebumps moment is when you stop for a minute and look around in the crowd, and you see groups of friends dancing with their hands in the air, no cellphones, no flashes, just pure energy. A great example of this moment was the day Richie Hawtin played on our Terrace, the past 17th of August. His knowledge in music and his long history with Amnesia produce something unique, something that is hard to find nowadays.

How do you feel walking through the venue after the crowd is gone and silence returns?

Walking through the venue after the crowd has gone and silence returns feels like stepping into history. The years linger in the quiet — the echoes of cheers, the trace of smiles, the memory of countless dances held within these walls. Standing in the center of the dancefloor, you can almost feel time itself breathing. Looking up, as the lights filter through the rooftop, the past and present meet in a single moment.

As Pyramid steps into another season at Amnesia its purpose remains clear. The dancefloor is more than a room for music, it is a place where time bends and memories gather. Each season adds to a history that cannot be manufactured, a history that is written in the movement of thousands of bodies, the collective energy of countless nights, and the silence that follows when the crowd has gone home. In this silence you can still hear the echoes of cheers and the trace of songs that shaped generations of clubbers. What begins as a beat becomes a bond, and what happens under Amnesia’s roof does not end when the lights come up. It lingers in memory, in stories told between friends, in the anticipation of returning the following summer or even years later. Pyramid has built its identity on presence and emotion, and it carries forward with the same commitment. The night belongs to those who step onto the dancefloor and surrender to the music, and it is this surrender that has kept Amnesia alive for half a century. Pyramid holds this truth close and reminds Ibiza that the most powerful show is still the one inside your body.

Broken glass. Strobe scars. Bass shaking the bones of an abandoned forest. FJAAK came up on raw instinct—hacked gear, illegal raves, no sleep, no plan B. Before the bookings, before the Boiler Rooms, it was just a basement in Spandau and the thrill of noise with nowhere to go but louder. Now they’re closing Berghain for 11 hours, running a label that’s more like a syndicate, and still building everything by hand. This isn’t a nostalgia act. It’s muscle memory. It’s resistance through rhythm. Spandau20, the Berlin-based collective label rooted in underground rave culture, celebrates its 10th VA with 10 tracks from its co-founders—each one a reflection of the label’s raw, percussive, hardware-driven ethos.
