On February 27, 2025, we had the privilege of being invited by Solomun to witness his performance in Las Vegas, where he joined his friend Anyma for one of the final acts of the inaugural electronic residency at The Sphere—a mesmerizing “visual dome” the size of a sports arena. Solomun brought his own vision to this ultra-modern, futuristic setting, introducing surprisingly fitting vintage and retro-futuristic elements that reflected his cultural background and professional experience.
In fact for this special event, he drew from his vast background in the cinema industry, which is evident in every aspect of the show, entirely directed and created by him—from sound, to visuals, to choreography (featuring Blanca Li, also known for her work with Daft Punk).
The visual story evolves through the alternance of scenes with two antipodal characters (sun/moon, male/female, both very well styled for a proper Berghain wild night), different from each other but dancing relentlessly to the same beat that united us all. Then we transition to another scenery, and probably my personal highlight: a fast descent into the realm of the shadows and highlights of a parallel dimension made of wires, neon lights and “claustrophobic” distances traversed at the speed of light.
While bright primary colors led the storytelling, for the ending part Solomun stripped away all extraneous elements to focus on the essence of a monochromatic composition—a shifting, anthropomorphic flow that dissolves seamlessly, paving the way for the show’s conclusion: a portal of infinite light opening onto the crowd, illuminating everything around us.
