A Fashion-Forward Stay

A spotlight on SO/ Berlin Das Stue.

Berlin, a city with a unique energy able to offer a multitude of experiences to its visitors: iconic as an ultimate clubbing destination, known for its avant-garde art scene, historical significance and vibrant culture. This time we have dived into the elegance and charm of SO/ Berlin Das Stue, a luxurious boutique hotel in the heart of this dynamic city with a view on Tiergarten Park.

Located in a former Danish embassy, with it’s elegant façade exudes a timeless charm that seamlessly blends with Berlin’s contemporary spirit. The design, overseen by the Spanish interior designer Patricia Urquiola, is a testament to her talent for blending classic and modern elements. The exquisite artworks and captivating chandelier create a sense of opulence that is balanced by a relaxed atmosphere in muted color palettes. The spa, features a wellness area with massage rooms, a sauna, a gym, and a pool, all using exclusive skincare products from Susanne Kaufmann, known for utilising the healing properties of plants and employing gentle cold pressing to extract natural ingredients, resulting in high-concentration products designed to provide optimal skin care.

Last but not least the SO/ Berlin Das Stue “Casual” Restaurant. True to its name, “Casual” offers a relaxed yet refined dining experience that showcases the best of modern European cuisine. The restaurant’s atmosphere is intimate, with a minimalist design that allows the food to take center stage. The menu is a testament to the culinary expertise of the head chef Alessio Landi (originally from Napoli) and each dish is carefully crafted to delight both the palate and the eye. Highlights of our dinner were the Apple pork belly, an indulgent appetizer expertly prepared to achieve a crispy, caramelised exterior while retaining a tender, melt-in-your-mouth quality on the inside. Complemented by fresh peas for a pop of sweetness and crunch, with a touch of wasabi to add a subtle heat, while creamy burrata cheese provided a luxurious balance, resulting in a combination of flavours that surprised and delighted the palate. For the main course, the chef’s signature dish: the homemade Buffalo ricotta ravioli, artfully prepared with care, offered a delicate and creamy filling encased in perfectly cooked pasta pockets. Served in a Bouillabaisse sauce alongside a medley of both raw and cooked fish, this dish presents a harmonious marriage of textures, where the richness of the ravioli beautifully complements the seafood-infused broth for a truly exquisite culinary journey. Furthermore, the expertly curated a selection of wines, elevated the experience with unique flavours and impeccable pairings. The staff’s attention to detail, genuine warmth, and knowledge of the menu made everything truly memorable. Whether it was a wine recommendation or an explanation of the dishes, they went above and beyond to ensure that we felt welcomed and pampered.

SO/ Berlin Das Stue epitomises Berlin’s unique ability to offer a tapestry of experiences that celebrate the city’s diverse soul, being a testament to the city’s past and present, where timeless charm meets contemporary allure, leaving a mark on all who have the privilege to partake in its luxurious offerings.
