Across Europe this summer, fashion’s hidden histories and quiet legends come alive—not in grand gestures, but in hushed rooms where time seems to pause. From Osaka’s softly glowing Louis Vuitton archives to London’s lingering Versace silhouettes, through Paris’s delicate unraveling of Wes Anderson’s cinematic worlds, and Venice’s intimate portrait of Marc Jacobs by Sofia Coppola—these exhibitions invite you into moments suspended between memory and myth, where style breathes in shadow and light.



LOUIS VUITTON: VISIONARY JOURNEYS IN OSAKA [15 JULY- 17 SEPT]

At the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka, Louis Vuitton: Visionary Journeys unfurls like a reel of soft archival film—dust-specked, glowing, reverent. Across twelve dusky rooms, the house traces its storied romance with Japan: a relationship stitched in canvas and cultural reverence. The journey opens with two illuminated Trunkscapes, monolithic stacks of luggage glowing like city lights at night, designed by architect Shohei Shigematsu. Still as quiet monuments to Vuitton. From there, visitors step into a dreamscape of monograms and motifs, an atmospheric unravelling of how the maison’s codes evolved alongside its fascination with the East. At its peak, a 360-degree kaleidoscopic dome suspends the archive in motion, projecting LV’s key Japanese collaborations like constellations. Running until September 7, the exhibition is less a retrospective than a cinematic passage through obsession, design, and devotion.

GIANNI VERSACE: RETROSPECTIVE IN LONDON [16 JULY- 1 MAR 2026]

Hosted beneath the shadowy vaults of Arches London Bridge, Gianni Versace: Retrospective burns like a flashbulb memory: searing, glamorous, untouchable. The UK’s largest Versace retrospective to date, it gathers over 450 original pieces from the house’s most electric era: the ’80s and ’90s, where fashion wasn’t just worn, it was weaponized. Dresses once draped over Diana, Naomi, and Kate now stand ghostlike under glass, their silhouettes still humming with audacity. Bondage leather, gold chains, and safety pins—these weren’t garments, they were declarations. Through archival runway footage and whispered interviews, the exhibit traces Versace’s ability to turn fashion into a pop spectacle, blurring the distance between the catwalk and the MTV stage. This is where the supermodel was born, sculpted in silk and spotlight. Versace didn’t just dress a generation, he mythologized it. On view until March 2026, the show feels less like a retrospective and more like stepping inside a legacy that never cooled.

WES ANDERSON: L’EXPOSITION IN PARIS [19 MAR- 27 JULY]

Inside the dim corridors of Paris’s Cinémathèque Française, Wes Anderson: L’exposition plays like a memory half-remembered, saturated, symmetrical, and slightly surreal. This is the first exhibition devoted entirely to the elusive filmmaker, offering a backstage pass into the inner clockwork behind his films. From early ’90s sketches to the pastel-laced perfection of his latest Oscar-winning film, the exhibition unfolds like one of his scenes: precise, poetic, and full of odd, whimsical charm. Original costumes, annotated scripts, and props from his personal archive sit beneath museum lights like relics from a fable. The exhibition traces not only his cinematic evolution, but the visual codes and secret references stitched into every frame, revealing the quiet machinery of a universe built on nostalgia and obsessive design. Open through July 27, it’s less an exhibit than a portal, like the last light of a long summer scene.

SOFIA COPPOLA’S DOCUMENTARY: MARC BY SOFIA [27 AUG- 9 SEPT]

Arriving in the late summer at the Venice Film Festival, Marc by Sofia emerges not with noise, but with the muted glow of something deeply personal. It’s Sofia Coppola’s first documentary, though it hums more like a diary left open. She doesn’t dissect Marc Jacobs—she drifts through him. Their history is stitched quietly throughout: the grain of an old campaign, the filtered light of a fragrance ad, the final bow at Louis Vuitton where she stood not in front of the lens, but inside the moment. What the film contains is still held close, but that secrecy feels intentional—less a withholding, more a spell. This won’t be a telling, it’ll be a tracing. A study in glances, in shared silences, in the spaces between fashion and feeling. Like watching two lives move in parallel, then slowly fold into each other.
