Set atop the Lapa neighborhood’s hills, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel combines a refined modern aesthetic with Porto’s storied character. This hotel, designed by local architecture firm Visioarq Arquitectos with interiors by Broadway Malyan, provides a fresh yet grounded approach to luxury that honors Porto’s UNESCO World Heritage allure. Positioned as an “Art House in The Park,” the hotel is conceptualized with art and nature at its core, harmoniously blending the city’s historic charm with modern elegance. The Renaissance Porto Lapa’s design is distinguished by its Art Deco-inspired interiors and the use of a champagne color palette accented by petrol blue—a subtle nod to the Douro River that flows between Porto and Gaia. The interior details include traditional Portuguese tiles, a signature of Porto’s architectural heritage, along with notable art installations. The mosaic tile installation by Pedrita Studio, a painting by Isabel Mello, and an eye-catching piece with corrugated iron and neon lights by Berlin-based artist Clemens Behr lend an artistic depth that anchors the hotel in local and international creativity.

The hotel embodies an “Art House in The Park” ethos, using a sophisticated Art Deco theme paired with Porto-inspired colors like champagne and petrol blue, symbolizing the nearby Douro River. Art installations from celebrated Portuguese artists, including Pedrita Studio’s tile mosaics and works by Isabel Mello and Clemens Behr.

The culinary experience at the Renaissance Porto Lapa is equally immersive. L’Égoïste Bar and Restaurant, under the guidance of chefs Duarte Batista and Ricardo Tiago, emphasizes sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. The menu offers Portuguese dishes reimagined with a contemporary twist, catering to locals and travelers alike with flavors that evoke tradition in innovative forms. L’Égoïste is an all-day dining space, hosting the brand’s “Ritual” four nights a week. This floor also features a 17-meter heated infinity pool, a tranquil space for guests to unwind and take in the city from above. Stepping outside, you will find themselves surrounded by Porto’s cultural landmarks, such as the iconic Lapa Church, the Clérigos Tower, and Casa da Música.

The Renaissance’s Navigator program further enhances the experience, offering insights from a local expert to help guests uncover Porto’s hidden corners, from boutique cafes and wineries to architectural marvels.
