Uma Wang A/W18

Dark wood, dimly lit rooms, baroque decorations and books chained to the shelves: an immaterial reality at Uma Wang AW/18, a show set in a medieval library of an ex-monastery in Paris.

A collection that showcased a firm set of views of the Masculin Féminin relationship where an alchemical union connects the two worlds. Empathy, sensitivity and gentleness melts with ascetic rigour and strength in a statement of independence of an ideal femininity deeply secluded in self-awareness.

Models wrapped in precious fabrics with rich textures and dyes, with faces and bodies concealed by maxi hoods and dappled in double layered silhouettes of rusty sepia tones, sombre monochromes, cardinal red and mellow browns evoking universal memories. From “nowhere, maybe Mongolia, maybe Japan, maybe China, maybe England, maybe wherever,” said Uma after the show, to describe her perfect timeless and infinite being.
