‘My aim is to unpack the human mind and what’s at the core of human nature. Predominantly as designer and partly as an anthropological observer, I investigate the contrast between how we connect with each other and the world around us. I want to depict the difficulty human beings face to connect intimately. This is a theme which will certainly be increasingly relevant in the upcoming future.’
In her newest collection Olya Stoyanova mingles intimacy and plays with the idea of human bonds. Her designs are deeply rooted in anthropological research and investigate the relationship between inner and outer world. The collection experiments with the perception of the body and how an intimate touch can be replicated through fabric interaction. The tension and the intensity of emotions that a relationship can convey are visually communicated through the wrapping of the body. Olya Stoyanova is a Bulgarian born fashion designer based between the European cities Milan/Sofia. The strong sense of traditions and community inherited during her childhood in Bulgaria have utterly influenced the themes that Olya Stoyanova explores through her designs. Her style in the collection is marked by the search for sensual shapes that surround the human body, giving it a new more delicate approach. The Italian tailoring tradition inspired Stoyanova to seek perfection and the greatest attention to detail. After finishing her bachelor degree in IED Milano in July 2020, the designer aspires to further raise important questions through her work and develop her own brand.
