We had a huge time this year at M’era Luna and we are still carrying the moon in our hearts along with many unforgettable memories. What a noteworthy weekend we left behind, full of music, incessant dancing and beautiful people.
Hallowed again by a wonderful warm and sunny weather, there was that particular magic and communion shared with a crowd of about 25.000 fans (M’era Luna tickets were sold out pretty much in advance) of the dark from all over the World for this year’s ecstatic black celebration.
Will skip straight to our absolute highlights of the festival, the epic, evocative and intense performance of the Fields of the Nephilim on Sunday afternoon. Hildesheim was burning during the ritualic ceremony of riveting sounds led by the harsh and hypnotic vocals Carl McCoy and the psychic energy of his cowboy dusters with weather-beaten look. An atmospheric goth masterwork performance, a deep apocalyptical set that propelled the crowd to other dimensions dissolving it into something vaster, for dust we are and to dust we shall return. “For the Nephilims look forward to a long reign that might take moments to experience but lifetimes to fulfill.”
After this dark aural delight we lived in a dream for a few more moments with Ronan Harris, who kept the visions alive for us with the poetically haunting sounds of VNV Nation (Victory Not Vengeance). An awe-inspiring stage show, truly engaging and euphoric, that culminated when the entire crowd illuminated the night sky dancing with their phones lights up during “Nova”. “One should strive to achieve, not sit in bitter regret.” – it’s the band’s epigram and there is no better thought to ruminate upon until the next summer so let’s awaken wonders deep in us and seize the days.
The following gallery of images, divided in two blocks, with the live pictures and some portraits shot on film of the people we met. We will post some of them on our Instagram page as well, get in touch if you want to be mentioned/tagged in your picture!
While waiting for the next headliners to be announced, we are already looking forward to the succeeding edition in the company of Nitzer Ebb, Faderhead, Rotersand, Solitary Experiments, Noisuf-X, and many more. So just can’t wait to see you all again next year!
Next edition: 8-9 August 2020 / Hildesheim, Germany.
